ABOUT US

Our Core Values

Youth Power

Young people lead, decide, and implement. CHYN exists to shift power to youth—not position them as beneficiaries.

Climate Justice in Action

We focus on those most affected—especially young women and vulnerable groups—ensuring fair access to health, resources, and opportunity.

Locally Grounded Evidence

We prioritize youth-led, community-based data and lived experience to drive decisions, advocacy, and action.

Practical Innovation

We support solutions that are simple, locally relevant, and scalable—not ideas that only work on paper.

Accountability to Communities

We are accountable first to the young people and communities we work with—through transparency, integrity, and measurable action.

One Health in Practice

We address climate and health challenges by linking human, environmental, and community systems in real-world solutions.

About Us

The Climate & Health Youth Network (CHYN) was founded in 2025 by a group of visionary health sciences students in Zambia who saw firsthand how climate change and public health challenges intersect in their communities. They realized that young people are uniquely positioned to lead change, to research, innovate, and advocate for solutions that protect both people and the planet.

From these beginnings, CHYN has grown into a youth-led network of young Zambians aged 18-35, united by a shared mission: to empower youth to take action at the climate-health nexus. We provide platforms for research, sustainable innovation, leadership, and advocacy, ensuring that youth voices are heard in national and international dialogues on climate and health.

At CHYN, we believe that youth are not just the future, they are the change-makers of today. Through collaboration, evidence-driven action, and community-focused initiatives, we strive to build healthy, resilient, and equitable communities across Zambia and Africa.

VISION

We envision a world where empowered youth lead the charge toward healthy, climate-resilient, and equitable communities

MISSION

We exist to drive transformative community development through education, capacity-building, and youth-led research, innovation, and advocacy at the climate–health nexus, advancing resilient and equitable futures in Zambia and across Africa.
